Pleased To Eat You, Not To Meet You

If anyone ever asks me which Noveltoons I really don't like, then I would say The Voice Of The Turkey,One Quack Mind, every Little Audrey short that isn't Butterscotch and Soda, Song Of The Birds, and Little Audrey Riding Hood, and this one:
This one is just WEIRD. For example, why are there PIGS and PORCUPINES in a JUNGLE?

Why does a kid hit the lion in the face with a boxing glove with no other motive to do it except out of just being mean?
What the heck is up with the bizzare poses and animation in certain scenes?

It almost feels like a Columbia cartoon it's so WTF in some parts. Although of course, it wouldn't truly be Columbia WTF without a super hero cat that dresses up as a baby?

But even if this cartoon sucks it at least has some TERRIFIC backgrounds and beautiful colors(something that Famous, sadly never really get's credit for)

This cartoon also is one of the ones with the ridiculous "Featuring" title cards. I love how they were actually trying to market the Hungry Lion as Paramount's newest animated star.
But of course the most ridiculous featuring card is this one:

Here's the cartoon. Enjoy!(or hate)
(The pictures from Pleased come from the Thunderbean Noveltoon sneak peek disc, and the Superkatt one comes from Cartoon Research. I'm NOT going to post the Thunderbean's sneak print on here just to let everyone know. I'll,with Steve's permission, post a few when the final DVD comes out but not this one. If you want to see the print so badly then buy the DVD. Steve deserves it!)

  1. I have a guilty pleasure in checking out the dark, violent humor of this cartoon. But then Famous' cartoons were known for those traits--especially after 1947. Leonard Maltin did a good job covering that aspect of Famous' cartoons in his Of Mice & Magic.
